1. They would live with strong beliefs in these gods and spend a lot of time preparing themselves in hopes they could avoid a not-so-good fate in the afterlife. They might do more good deeds and become better people because of the fear they might have to suffer longer.

2. The kings got the job due to their fame and also because their father was the most respected Greek god. Because Zeus was so high up in power and respect it passed down to his children as well.
