Julie read To Kill a Mockingbird and Romeo and Juliet, the assigned literature for English I, and decided to write a short narrative with a theme related to parental influence on children's lives.
Which of the following provides a conclusion (after sentence 27) that best reflects what has been observed about Mrs.
Schaefer from the narrator's point of view? Click here to read Julie's "To the Beach."

A) "I can hardly wait until the weather reporters try to explain it," Mrs. Schaefer responded animatedly. "Any tropical storm-past,
present, or future-has seldom been known for bringing good luck!"

This is the best conclusion because it point out that, like many parents, Cathy's mom was inclined to add her comments.

B) Mrs. Schaefer was speechless. Then she thought of how Mrs. Greer would howl when she got the news of Debbie's new way of
seeking fame-as a storm!

Because most of what readers learn about Mrs. Schaefer is told through narration, this conclusion is best.

C) Mrs. Schaefer grinned, her expression a familiar one to Debbie. After all, how would the girls have ever gone forward with their plans
for a beach vacation if it weren't for Cathy's mom?

This conclusion is best because it confirms that, In spite of having the trip suggested by the girls, it took adults to help implement
their plans.

D ) "To have the chance to test the elements is one thing." Mrs. Schaefer chortled, "but having your name chosen is definitely a positive
sign. Why not bring a shovel
to dig for treasure in case this becomes a wave of good fortune?

Because Cathy's mom was typically impulsive about repeating herself, this is the best conclusion.
