Text 1
*Chicken pox is an infection that spreads easily. It is more common for young children
to get it, but adults can get it, too. People with chicken pox usually have a very itchy
red rash, which can appear on different parts of the body. Chicken pox is not usually
dangerous for kids, but it is uncomfortable.
Text 2
*Experts are not sure how the infection chicken pox got its name. Some people think it
is because the red spots of the chicken pox rash look like chicken pecks. But experts do
agree that chicken pox does not come from chickens, nor is it spread by chickens.
Actually, it has nothing to do with chickens.
Which sentence best combines the main ideas of both texts?
A. Chicken pox is an infection that causes an uncomfortable rash, but it is rarely dangerous for children.
B. Chicken pox is a common infection that causes a rash, but it is not known how the infection got its name.
