You might be able to determine that this sentence means that the character that spoke this line is explaining to the reader that they found out about the real truth about murder or even the death of a character. Finally, to answer your question, Kafka is pretty much saying that the dreams that Gregor were having, were more real than a predicament. Basically saying that the dreams could foreshadow the next event in the story.
