Symbolism can be defined as the use of symbols to represent ideas or qualities. Often in literary works, authors choose a physical object which takes on a special significance in the work and becomes a symbol of something beyond itself. As you will soon see, in the novel, Lord of the Flies, symbols will show up multiple times within the story. I would like for you to choose a symbol for your own life. If you could only choose one object that symbolizes your character, who you are, what you believe, what are your likes and dislikes, etc. What would you choose and why? Take the time to describe your symbol, using sensory details (sight, sound, smell, touch, taste). Tell me how and why it is a symbol for and to you. Your response must be at least 250 words long in order to earn full credit for this assignment.
