The first emotion we can perceive in the protagonist is disappointment. That's because he wants to see something (which is not mentioned or explained), so he starts a journey in search of that something, but when he finds it he feels disappointed, because it is not as he imagined and he does not reach his expectations.

Faced with disappointment, the protagonist decides to make his journey back to the place where he shares, however he expresses strong fear and we don't know exactly what. He may be afraid of the horse (who is following him), afraid to retrace his path, or even afraid of what the future is preparing.

When he returns to where he shares, the protagonist feels relief, because he is safe and no longer fears the horse.
