I need help writing the rest of this essay please and need suggestions. This is what I have so far: In the novel Lord of The Flies by William Golding, the plane crash and the boys let fear get in the way of their good judgement, and this affected their survival. Everybody is born with the instinct to survive and this survival can sometimes depend on other people. People have to identify who are the good people and who are the evil people who will help them survive. Fear and dangerous situations can affect good judgement. Emotions, fear, and feeling threatened can cause people to lack good judgement. They set up rules and everyone shared equLly. The big ones and little us. All split up duties and there was no one above another big or little ones. The older boys brought fear in the end. The boys were fearful of each other, there was good nature to protect little, the hunters thought it was not fear, the littles were fearful of the big ones. Human fear seems to be a big problem for the boys on the island. The boys seem to be afraid of a beast that they thought lived on the island. The boys then started to get frightened" (Golding, 88). Fear can either be caused by mental illnesses or physical things . Fear can be felt physically or emotionally. Fear can come about because of feeling threatened. When people have a direct threat from someone or something they will fight and do anything needed to save themselves. People can become aggressive and will sometimes think irrationally. The first time Jack encounters a pig, he is fearful and unable to kill it. Jack wants power and is afraid to not be in control. If you’re hunting sometimes you catch yourself feeling as if—...There’s nothing in it of course. Just a feeling. But you can feel as if you’re not hunting, but—being hunted, as if something’s behind you all the time in the jungle" (Golding, 73). The more savage Jack becomes, the more he is able to control the rest of the group. In the Lord of the Flies the boys are fearful of the imagined beast but they are also are fearful that they might not be rescued. Jack had an instinctive fear of the unknown there are no adults and no rules on the island to live by. Jack knows the difference between right and wrong but the fear of having to survive and not knowing what the future holds took over his good judgement. People are by nature cautious but when they feel threatened that threatened behavior disappears and bad behavior takes over what was generally good. People are born to avoid things that make them uncomfortable. When feeling threatened and uncomfortable people take risks and fight to survive. “ Ralph lunged himself; stabbed, snarling, with the spear, and the savages doubled up” ( 195) Ralph was always trying to remain calm while trying to survive he used his better judgement but because he was in an uncomfortable situation and felt threatened he did what he needed to do to survive. Ralph became aggressive and his calm attitude and good judgement was taken over.
