According to the story, the author talks about a group of girls that were awoken from their slumber as a result of the bleating of a goat.

The shepherd that was herding the goats tries to make small talk to the girls and even though he appears to be kind, he has sinister motives.

He convinces the girls to go with him to Hacienda Dorada, one of the girls, Odilia refuses to go  with him, but the other girls that appeared convinced went with him.

The shepherd turns into a monster and attacks their town and the girls valiantly tries to rescue their village from the monster.

Answer and Explanation:

In chapter 14 of "Summer of the moths" the girls wake up due to the sound of goats listening from outside their room. Curious, they get up to look at where that sound came from and it is at that moment that they see a lot of goats. The shepherd quickly introduces himself and seems very kind and friendly, although one of the girls, Odilia, has uncomfortable and sorry feelings around him, which bodes well for bad times that he will provide the girls.

The goatherd's name is Chencho and because he is very kind he offered to accompany the girls to Hacienda Dorada. Odilia rejects the invitation, but the other girls are positive about him and end up accepting him to go along.

During the journey Chencho tells scary and horrible stories about a monster, he seems to know this sinister type of creature well. And he really does, since at night he turns into a chupacabraand and attacks Pita. The other girls are desperate trying to save Pita and save themselves, when they attack the chupacabraand and hurt his eyes, leaving him blind.

femininity is conveyed through bernice's personality. she doesn't act how the other girls act and everyone thinks she is weird. she learns how to act in a way that was considered femininely appropriate at the time. she becomes so popular but her attempts to be liked end up backfiring when she is pressured into bobbing her hair. the author wrote that bernice cut off her cousin's hair in revenge for tricking her to cut her hair. this was the authors way of trying to change the way feminine is defined and the way women are expected to act.
