Animal Farm Text-Dependent Questions-

Chapter 2
1. What are the animals preparing for? When do they think it will happen?
They were planning to rebel against the farmer.“During the next three months there was much secret activity.”
2. Read the paragraph about Snowball and Napoleon. What do you think it means when the author says, “Snowball…..was not considered to have the same depth of character.”
It means that snowball is considered but napoleon was seen to have a greater character
3. What are some objections the other animals have to working for the revolution?
Mr. jones wouldn’t be able to feed the animals
They would starve
They have to remain loyal to the farmer jones
Other animals would not care about the animals trying to rebel or they wouldn’t care for it

4. What finally convinces the animals to fight?
After the first slaughter of the animal which was a pig and it made them kind of happy because the pigs were not using their power
5. Why do they destroy the horse ribbons?
because they are a sign of slavery “those ribbons that you are so devoted to are the badge of slavery. Can you not understand that liberty is worth more than ribbons?
6. What rules are set out for the animals, who thought of them, and who writes them?
Napoleon, squealer and snowball
Any 2 legged animal is an enemy
Any 4 legged animal is an enemy as well
Any animal with wings are enemies
All animals are equal
No animal shall kill another animal
No animal shall sleep in a bed

7. In Chapter 1, was the Manor Farm run as a dictatorship or a totalitarian government?
“Dictatorships govern without consent of the people and in totalitarian dictatorships the power to govern extends to all aspects of life.”
