The cultural fabric of a community might be stretched or altered  when it encounters new ideas and members, because of divided opinions and reactions, and as traditions change. If the changes are greeted with positivity, it can cause the community to progress and change culturally. As new customs and traditions are added, old ones might be lost or become less prominent. This is how cultures and communities progress, change, and advance throughout history. However, if there are opposing opinions within the community in regards to new ideas or additions into the community, it could cause disruption and conflict, and potentially divide the community and destroy important aspects of their culture.
