Who was the first person in the United States to build steel plants that used the Bessemer process?

When Henry Bessemer died in 1898, he had become a very wealthy man, and had lived to appreciate the huge impact of his innovation. At the time, the global annual production of Bessemer steel ran to £84m – an astronomical sum for the time.
