I think it would be appropriate to use Distant narrating when you just need to get a quick overview of the story. This would be effective in this way because it would be easier to tell the whole story. It would be appropriate to use Close narrating when you want to get closer to the emotions of the characters. You couldn't effectively get close to the character's emotions from a distance. This would b effective because you would get insight into the emotions and thoughts of the narrator taking part in these events.
