We believe that everyone in every place has the right to a life free from slavery. But now, in every country in the world, thousands of children and adults are trapped in slavery. Including yours.

Modern slavery is the serious exploitation of others for personal or commercial purposes. Modern slavery is everywhere around us, but it is often invisible. People may be trapped in making clothes, providing food, harvesting crops, working in factories or working as cooks, cleaners or nanny in the house.

From the outside, it looks like it is working properly. But people are controlled – they may face violence or threats, be forced to take on inevitable debts, or be deprived of their passports and threatened with deportation. Many people fall into this oppressive trap simply because they are trying to get rid of poverty or insecurity, improve their lives and support their families. Now they cannot leave.
