    For decades, New Years Eve has been celebrated around the world through various cultural ceremonies. These ceremonies are used to commemorate the coming of the New Year. This for some is just a reason to party with friends, but for some, New Years Eve is a time to set goals and turn around their lives.

   For example, one popular way people celebrate the coming of the New Year is by making resolutions. These resolutions are often ways for people to set a year-long goal for themselves like taking up a new hobby or living healthier. Some may rid their house of hardships, or think back on troubles from the past and how they've overcome them. Others center on bringing luck and prosperity to their lives for the New Year. One thing is the same though, no matter what tradition. As said in the text, "The world changes at midnight," (paragraph 2, The Single Experience that Unites the World). This is the whole meaning behind the New Years Eve celebration.
