I believe school officials are concerned about students' online speech, even when it occurs outside of school hours and off school property because they want to make sure students are not rude towards others and stay safe on the internet. Being rude towards someone online is saying something offensive such as name calling, slurs, or bad language. This can escalate to the term cyber bullying, which is bullying someone through the internet.
