What happens to Ratan upon hearing stories about the postmaster's family?

After listening to the stories of Postmaster's family, Ratan associated herself with them. She imagined herself as a part of his family. In his stories, she listened about his house, his family members, some good moments and some bad. The postmaster would easily tell those stories to Ratan because he found a sense of homeliness in Ratan's attitude.
