You should start with what kind of genre you like. If you like action and plot, I'd recommend Dragon Ball or One Punch Man.

If you like the scarier more gory stuff, definitely should watch my personal favorite Tokyo Ghoul.

If you just want to be a typical anime fan, or "weeb" you should watch My Hero Acedamia or Naruto

There are also some other really good ones that don't really fit into a genre, like full metal alchemist or Fairy Tail.

If you are mature, watch ZeroTwo. Really good one there.

Hi! My first anime was Death Note and although it is one of my favorites of all time, I think something a bit easier to handle would be better as a first anime. I think that most people start of their anime journey with Naruto because it's very popular and well known. I actually suggest a studio ghibili film to start out. I recommend Howls Moving Castle. But if you want a show suggestion I would recommend Sailor Moon because it's a classic and it's plot is easy to follow (it is quite long though).
