Parents should limit the amount of screen time their children are exposed to. Research now indicates a correlation between the amount of time toddlers spend on digital devices with poor developmental scores later on. That’s not to say one definitely causes the other, but rather that an association between the two has been found.
Doctors recommend that parents limit children’s use of technology to one hour per day. They also recommend that outside activity and exercise replace couch slouching and staring at the TV. Additionally, a recommended eight hours of sleep is prescribed. Many children use a handheld device to lull themselves to sleep like a teddy bear, but screens have the opposite effect. They stimulate kids and cause them to stay up later than they should.
All parents should take this new information seriously and put limits on technology use by young children.
