Imagine that, rather than depicting a “frown / And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command” the “shattered visage” on the ground depicted a smile, and curved lip, and grin of warm welcome. Would the theme of the poem—“nothing lasts forever”—remain the same? Why or why not? Would other portions of the poem have to change as well, or could they remain the same? How would this change affect the overall sound and tone of the poem? Address these questions in an argumentative essay that supports your point of view. State your claim clearly and support it with strong reasons and textual evidence. Maintain a formal style and objective tone, and provide a conclusion that follows from and supports the argument you presented. I'll post the other poem in the comments
