Sixteenth-century artists paint wealthy people, prosperous cities, and food, not landscapes.

In Mortimer's book "The Time Travelers Guide to Elizabethan England" he talks about aspects of life such as the English health practices, hunger, and the prosecution of Catholics. In spite of all of that, it also shows the positive aspects. In particular that in the land, the architecture, and the navigation of the globe. Mortimer paints a conversation style of language. He does this by drawing the big and small changes in the countries effort to dominate control. In this writing, there is heavy use of anecdotes. He goes into detail about the dangerous settings for women, those in the lower class especially. Mortimer's style can be seen throughout the narrative of the novel and in the end, describes the Elizabethan age as the age of opportunity where progression could take place.
