your story would need sensory language to make it spooky like if you just said "there was a guy behind me with a knife at night" That would be less spooky then "as i was walking a dark rainy road with my rainboats and raincoat on as i felt raindrops hitting my jacket  I heard the footsteps of someone behind me as my stomach tightened and as my breath got heavier and as i heard the sound of pocket knofe opening" so to make a story scarier we need sensory langauge
