Also, mass transit reduces the number of vehicles on the road by almost 30 percent, which lessens traffic and provides a more pleasant commute.
Passage 2:
Officials from the Department of Transportation believe that public transit will not be built quickly enough to be a real option for many people in small to medium-sized cities. Therefore, we need to focus our efforts on making sure our personal vehicles are as energy efficient as possible. This not only reduces costs to individual drivers, but it also reduces the detrimental effect on the environment.
