Drew Magary's "The Hike" (2016) is a fantasy fiction narrating how a traveler was lost in a strange land like Alice in Wonderland and must follow a specified path to return to his home.  Otherwise, the traveler remains lost forever. W.S. Merwin's "To the Dust of the Road" is a poem that also conveys strange encounters in life that cannot be understood by the traveler.
