Myth Writing Assignment You are a scribe for your tribe and are responsible for writing down events that occur during your tribe’s lifetime. You realize that many people in your tribe are uneducated and will not understand the intellectual explanations for some events.

Following the example of the Greeks, create a myth that will explain some kind of occurrence or phenomenon. It can be a natural occurrence if you wish (ex. Where fire comes from) or something that is not (ex. Where Cheetos come from), but it does have to explain something that really exists. Your myth must be at least FOUR paragraphs in length (minimum of five sentences per paragraph).

You will be graded according to the following criteria:

Content
Describe the setting and/or tribe from where the myth comes.
Explain through the myth how something originated or occurs.
Create well-developed characters that will attract and engage your reader.
Create a well-defined problem or conflict for the protagonist.
Organization
Include a strong, engaging opening to your myth.
Include a conclusion that brings closure to the myth.
The structure should be that of a narrative.
Include an ORIGINAL title for your myth.
Voice
Use emotional, suspenseful, and dramatic language.
Use a consistent point of view, preferably third-person omniscient or limited.
Word Choice
Use vivid words and details to describe the characters, action, and setting.
Avoid being repetitive in word choice.
Sentence Fluency
Construct sentences that are clear. Vary your sentence length and structure and avoid run-on sentences.
Avoid sentence fragments and do not begin sentences with and, but, or or.
Conventions
You may use past or present tense, but keep verb tense consistent.
Use correct spelling and grammar.
Presentation
Type and double-space your myth using a readable font no larger than 12 point.
Use MLA format for heading and title.

This assignment and its drafts will count towards the Writing/Rhetoric portion of your grade, which is 50% of your overall grade. Points will be deducted from assignments turned in after the due date unless there is a reasonable excuse that is documented through a parent/guardian. You will upload the final draft to Turnitin through Schoology.

DUE DATES:

Rough Draft:
Friday, Nov. 13th, 2020

Revised Draft:
Tuesday, Nov. 17th, 2020

Final Draft:
FRIDAY, NOV. 20TH, 2020
(Note: We have no school on this day, but you may have until this day to turn in your myth on time.)

QUESTIONS TO THINK ABOUT BEFORE WRITING:
What is the troubling occurrence? (In other words, what will be explained through the myth?) Be sure to think of a storyline that will explain how something originated or why it occurs.
What will be the setting of the story?
Who is the god/goddess/hero that will help solve the problem? (They do not have to be from Greek mythology.) What are characteristics and special powers that the god/goddess/hero possesses?
Will there be a main antagonist? Will there be other characters that help the main character?
What is the main conflict? What does the god/goddess/hero have to overcome to reach his/her goal of solving the problem?
How is the conflict resolved? What will be the consequences if the god/goddess/hero fails? Is there a reward if he or she succeeds?
Can someone do this for me pls its almost due
