My brother patrick sat on his bed and waited patiently for me to begin. as i held the speech in my right hand, i felt the page crinkle between my fingertips. i read my speech loudly, but my brother shook his head disapprovingly. he told me i didn’t sound confident enough. with a heavy heart, i knew i was in for a long day of practicing.

"No, no, the actual speech is great, but you seem to be really nervous."
"Patrick, I have to recite this from memory to my entire class! Of course I'm nervous!"
"It's perfectly okay to be nervous but its something else... Wait! I got it! Its your confidence. You are the class president, take charge! Its a great speech, but deliverance is what makes it an amazing speech."
