Part 1:

“Nobody knew what form of intimidation Mr. Radley employed to keep Boo out of sight, but Jem figured that Mr. Radley kept him chained to the bed most of the time” (11).

“Boo was about six-and-a-half feet tall, judging from his tracks; he dined on raw squirrels and any cats he could catch, that’s why his hands were bloodstained” (13).

Part 2:

The kids are so fixated on Boo Radley because they have so little knowledge on him, the adults seem to avoid the topic of the Radley family, so they are naturally curious about something they know so little about. The children’s description of Boo Radley is most likely very inaccurate, surely all based on rumors from their fellow classmates. Perhaps Boo Radley is sort of an at home hermit that is a bit crazy, but I don’t believe he is a wild beast of a man that eats raw squirrels and cats. I believe Arthur (Boo) Radley does exist mainly due to the fact that Atticus said he saw Arthur as a child, and I trust Atticus as a character. Also it seems unreasonable that children have made up the character of Boo Radley, some part of him must be true.

Lorna, I completely agree with you. The kids are most likely fixated on Boo Radley because of their lack of knowledge towards him. Also, what you said about Atticus seeing him as a child gives proof that Boo is real because Atticus is a trustworthy character.

I agree with this! Just because you reside in a home almost your entire lifetime, does not mean you would be dead by the time people start speculating about you. You could very well just be living there. It doesn't guarantee any sort of sanity, but it is still possible.

I agree with most of what you said, but I also think that he does not have to be real. Multiple people might do some of the things Jem and Scout think is Arthur Radley did (like hiding objects in the knothole of the tree). There still is the possibility of him actually living in the Radley house though.
