The narrator brings to a climax an ordeal he had started narrating about when he went fishing with his Uncle as a child.

He had caught a fish using his line because he felt the tension on the line increase. But just as he exclaimed excitedly about how it was that he had caught a fish, his Uncle says to him "not yet".

At that very moment, the tension ceased and his line was gone, and so was the fish.

Then his Uncle highlights an important lesson to him saying, "Never brag about your fish before you catch him"

In the last four paragraphs, he indicates that there are lots of valuable lessons learned in childhood that are very relevant in adulthood. But that it doesn't prevent adults from making mistakes which indicates that they have forgotten those lessons.

1.creeping like a snail is a simile used in this poem and it means the child is going to school unwillingly./a child is unwilling to go to school.

2. man becomes very frail and loses his physical strength when he becomes old, so much that his leggings that used to fit him snugly when he was in his youth are now too loose for him to wear, and that his shank has shrunk so much that this worldly stage is too big for a feeble actor like him. although, 'his youthful hose' just refers to his leggings/pants/ to shrink from danger; to shrink from contact.
