The language of the  Declaration of Independence has been argued by some historians to represent the views of "American colonists" because the declaration was written to mark the founding of the United States from the colonist's quest for independence.

Some believed that the populations mentioned when the declaration of independence was first made excluded women,  native Americans, African Americans, and children, but included men.

The declaration of independence made no outright "condemnation of slavery" in a sense, some would say, it still excludes the African American populations.
