Detroit Public School faces the reoccurring issue of tardy students. Students who arrive late often disrupt classes, and cause concern for safety precautions. It is important to address the situation, without causing further division. The tardy students may have a medical concern, or are simply late or unattentive. A potential solution for this problem could be a strike system. Every time someone is late they receive a strike. After 5 strikes they must stay after class and finish the work, with an additional paragraph. Ensuring the student will finish work, and be reminded to attend class on time.
