There is a lot of buzz about children learning to code computers lately. what is computer code? Code is the string of typed instructions a computer follows to function . Many of the things we do on a computer rely on someone writing code. For example, sending an email requires code. Ordering a toy off the Internet also requires code. People believe it is beneficial for children to learn to code. This is because it develops critical thinking skills that can help children succeed in the future . Coding requires children to become problem solvers and use common sense. They need to look at the bigger picture. Coding requires people to break down big challenges into smaller, manageable tasks. Coders make logical connections that allow them to examine different situations successfully. These types of skills benefit children not just in coding, but in life. An increasing number of jobs require employees to have coding skills in addition to basic skills such as reading, writing, and math. Researchers found that jobs that require coding skills pay up to $22,000 per year more than jobs that do not require coding skills. Teaching children the skill of coding will prepare them with the skills needed to be successful in future jobs. What is the main idea of this passage?
