Chapter 12 of The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle is dominated by Charlotte’s internal struggle to come to terms with the results of her actions. She has seen Captain Jaggery’s true nature, and feels responsible for the death of Cranick and for Zachariah’s whipping.
