Weather conditions do not play a significant role in the setting of the story and are rarely mentioned throughout the text. One of the few times weather conditions are mentioned in the novel is towards the beginning of the story when Montag initially meets Clarisse. The night Montag meets Clarisse, she has a significant impact on him and he immediately begins contemplating his happiness. After coming home to discover that his wife has overdosed on pills, Montag contemplates Clarrise, her uncle, and Mildred as it begins to rain. Bradbury writes,
“Rain. The storm. The uncle laughing. Thunder falling downstairs. The whole world pouring down. The fire gushing up in a volcano. All rushing on down around in a spouting roar and rivering stream toward morning”.
