In your opinion, would any high school students in today's society find Transcendentalist beliefs relevant? Support your answer with examples from "Self-Reliance". Answers should be at least 150 words.

High school students would still find Transcendentalist beliefs relevant because many of them are things that are still important today.  In "Self-Reliance," Emerson talks about the importance of thinking for one's self.  Teens of today value that quality as well.  Emerson speaks of the concrete act of charity being superior to that of giving money.  Many high school students volunteer with community groups that directly help those in need.  He speaks caring more about truth, integrity, and honesty than about society's law.  Teens of today take a great interest in what is going on around them and want to know the truth, not just what is told to them on the surface.  Therefore, high school students would still find Transcendentalist beliefs relevant today.
