Read the following excerpt from "Homecoming." Atsidi lifted his eyes to Nantai’s face. The long, black braid was gone, and Nantai wore the White man’s pants and shirt, but everything else was the same. His eyes shone bright and clear, and his smile was as wide as the sky. Atsidi recognized him as if he’d seen him only yesterday. And Nantai’s eyes told Atsidi that he was recognized too.
