Over the course of around 2 years, Anne Frank wrote around 190 entries to her diary, filling around 215 sheets of paper, with a total of about 50,000 words. It’s obvious that Anne Frank worked hard on her diary and took it very seriously. Shed made it her way to express her emotions, and to practice her writing. Anne wanted to become a famous writer or journalist. Her diary, which she named Kitty, quickly became a part of her life, and started to change it. “Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl” showed Anne’s growth and maturity through her years of writing. Anne Frank matured a lot in the Annex, and that is what will be analyzing.

When Anne Frank was younger, she used to not understand her mother, and would be angry at her. She also called her Mama in the beginning, but the later refers to her as Mother. She also believes that her mother lacks real-motherliness, and sweetness. When she was younger, she was also is filled with optimism in the beginning and was always silly. “Yesterday Mother and I had another run-in and she really kicked up a fuss... I simply can't stand Mother, and I have to force myself not to snap at her all the time, and to stay calm, when I'd rather slap her across the face...”

One of Anne’s most significant changes was how she acted and felt towards Peter van Daan. In the beginning of the diary she thinks that Peter is a shy, awkward, lazy, adonitoxols, but she eventually starts getting feelings for him. They eventually come to a disagreement, but they decide not to fight because it would just make it harder to live with each other. This shows how much Anne has matured. Because anyone else would have just fought and not care about the fallout. “I have the feeling now that Peter and I share a secret. If he looks at me with those eyes that laugh and wink, then it’s just as if a little light goes on inside me. I hope it will remain like this and that we may have many, many more glorious times together!”

Anne Frank started to eventually become less ignorant and started to realize when she was in the wrong and acknowledged her mistakes. She also started to understand acted the way she did. She was also able to see through her mother’s perspective. She started to realize that her mother really did love her, and she loved her back.

Anne Frank changed so much during her time in the Annex. She filled every page, and every mind reading it, to always stay positive, even when time where tuff. Anne Frank was proof that people can change. She proved it by writing in her diary. Every one of those 50,000 words that she wrote, had significance. Those 2 years in the Annex changed her, and it made her who we see her as today. She was transformed from a selfish thirteen-year old, to a caring young adult who sees both sides of every situation.
