In magical realist stories, what kind of tone do most authors use?

I believe that the best answer for this question is a tone that relates events in the same way that they would be related in any other realist story. It would be ordinary and serious, as realism is literature that is meant to reflect life itself. Therefore, magical realism would not contain a tone that would be markedly different than other types of realism.
