What inspired Anupama?

Hillenbrand writes, "as louie blazed through college, far away, history was turning" (p. 43). why does the author interrupt louie's narrative with information about japan and germany?

Wiesel interrupts the narration that begin with, "a few ss officers wandered through the room, " with a parenthetical insertion. explain the purpose of the insertion.
