Narrative The speaker of "The City is So Big" is not fully defined in the poem. Judging from the details in the poem, though the speaker is not a native
of the city. He or she could be someone who grew up in a rural setting and recently arrived in a city. This speaker seems to be unfamiliar with things that
are common in the city, such as heavy equipment, escalators, or elevators. Decide who the speaker is in this poem, and then write a brief story that tells
about where he or she came from, why he or she decided to come to the city, and how he or she feels about it. Base your story on the details in the
poem, and build from them.
