Reading & Understanding Similes A simile is a figure of speech that compares two unrelated things using the words like or as. In order to understand a simile, you must think about how the two things are alike.

Directions: Highlight the linking word in each simile. Then, underline the two things that are being compared. Complete the sentence frame that follows.
