where i live, we celebrate the trio of my town. my town is in england, but there are 3 other towns like it, commonly known as kontanz in germany, fontainebleu in france and richmond in virgina, USA. we usually have people from each of the different countries come and teach us more about their town, and this also included long-distance language pen pals which we can have. it is a good thing because it means that you are able to build your connections with other people, and learn more about different cultures
