A third figure of speech Twain uses to good effect is personification. When you represent a thing, quality, or idea as if it were a human person, you are using personification. Familiar examples are Mother Nature, Jack Frost, and Uncle Sam. This story contains good examples of personification in the description of Andrew Jackson, the dog, and Dan'l Webster, the frog. Both are given some human qualities. List one example from the descriptions of these animals that shows them to be human, at least in Simon Wheeler's opinion.

in the past, people used sticks and stones or scrub boards to clean their clothing. as it was sweaty, backbreaking work, we owe a world of to james king because he created the model for the modern washing machine in 1851. the most important issue was that this machine cleaned clothes while a person cranked the handle. doing this made people who used it develop strong muscles in their arms. later, in 1908, alva j. fisher created an electric washing machine named thor. this one was not the first automatic washing machine. however, it was one of the most popular models at the time.

relative clauses are the clauses which begin with the relative pronouns such as when, where, which, that or who. the noun that precedes, relative pronouns identify or define that noun.  

6. the word, phrase, or clause to which a pronoun refers- antecedent.

antecedents refers to the phrases, clauses or words which are replaced with one of the third personal pronouns.
