The Seventh Man was a short story authored by Haruki Murakami, a Japanese writer, to narrate the dreadful experience of a man who felt that he was guilty of his failure to rescue K from the devastating typhoon.  Instead of resolving his fears, he decided to escape from his hometown  to sojourn in another.  But he continued living in paralyzing fears until he received a souvenir from K, which caused him to realize that K was not dead as he feared.
