1. The Nazis and people who agreed with them wanted to protect the German community from "inferior" races. Are there other examples in history or literature in which groups of people murdered innocent people in the name of "protecting" themselves? How are these examples similar to or different from the Holocaust?

2. What might have made the Nazis murder, imprison, and oppress certain people? Do you think those people were really a threat, or could there have been other motivations?

The Muslim Genocides around the world nowadays - the Chinese, French and Burmese governments have argued that the minority Muslim communities (Ughyur, Rohingya etc) were "infected" with "incorrect" beliefs by following Islam, and argued that the oppression against the Muslims was in fact a defense mechanism to protect other civilians from falling into these traps and/or the rehabiliation and "correcting" of the Muslims was to "fix" their beliefs.

2. The Nazis may have simply been scared of Hitler themselves and acted out of compulsion and acted out of fear, whereas others may have been brainwashed and manipulated by Hitler and believed the hate he spread was actual factual information. Others may hold a natural prejudice and shared the same hatred for Jews due to superiority complexes, or possibly the way they were bought up.
