Not only did his character win the case in the movie, showing that discrimination can be defeated, but Hanks and the movie itself won many awards and got the issue of AIDS and discrimination to become a known problem that could be prevented. This movie makes me think that not only our actions, but also the messages we send through mass media can have an immense effect on the world, and that means we can all help make the world better.
