And, indeed, Raj and Rohit soon heard a “thump thump” sound approaching. Their hearts beating fast, they watched as a large elephant came closer and closer. The animal trumpeted angrily, as if it was distressed by their presence and wanted to scare them away. The two friends were unable to move, afraid the elephant would chase them in case they tried to run away. As the elephant came towards them, Raj suddenly remembered Rohit had brought a balloon in his bag. Raj recalled asking his friend why he had brought such a useless item along, but now he realized the balloon could actually save them. He asked Rohit for the balloon and immediately started blowing. Soon, he had a big balloon, its rubber as thin as paper, ready to pop. Raj hit it hard with his hand – “bang” – and the loud noise scared the angry animal.
