(5) Over the course of his writing career, William Shakespeare captured all levels of human life, from lowly servants with no hope of freedom to tyrannical kings with armies ready to die at a word. (6) Despite his influence on the English language and those cultures that speak it, Shakespeare’s work is often seen as difficult to approach for new readers. (7) Many students find his work unrelatable or, at the very least, outdated. (8) Still, classrooms across the planet carve out a spot for Shakespeare’s work. (9) Why is this, and should it continue?
