Although the abolition movement was not fully successful, it still played a great role in helping lead up to the Civil War with many more abolitionists gained. The growth and spread of the abolition movement increased due to the spread of information by many people who were against slavery.
The abolition movement grew and spread through America with the help of abolitionists spreading their opinion on slavery to people all over America. The most common way that abolitionists used was to share their messages through newspapers and articles. According to Lonnie Bunch's article "How pervasive was the abolitionist movement and did it influence any of the southern states to secede?” in The Washington Post, abolitionists managed to not only use newspapers to help them in their mission to eradicate slavery, but they were also able to send out a cadre of anti-slave lecturers to travel the nation and inform people of all the evils of slavery. Although these weren't the only methods that people used to spread information on the abolition movement, they were some of the most effective methods used.
