When Jonas leaves the community, all the memories he has received from the Giver will be distributed throughout the community. To prepare his loved ones, Jonas writes a letter, giving advice about how to handle the new experiences they are about to receive. Write a letter, from Jonas's perspective, to the Giver, explaining:

-Jonas's reasons for leaving
-What to expect after he is gone for a while
-How to handle the difficult experiences in the memories
-What is good and important about having these memories

Use a specific memory as an example to help your explanations. (Think about what the recipient of your letter could relate to.)

Remember to format your letter with an appropriate salutation (Dear…), and make sure the tone of the letter fits the recipient. For example, a letter to Jonas's parents would be more formal than one to Asher or Fiona, and a letter to Lily would need to use simpler language.

Your letter should be between 300-500 words.
