A weed can be defined as a plant growing out of place. Weeds are
basically nonnative plant species. Nonnative species that become deep-

To home gardeners, weeds are little more than extra work and a test of
patience and persistence when ridding them from prized flower beds.
Weeds are an entirely different matter for farmers, ranchers, wildlife

Weeds first arrived in the United States in the form of seeds.
Colonists on the East Coast and Spanish settlers in the Southwest brought

used as ballast to keep the ship stable during the sea voyage. Once a ship
reached its destination it dumped the ballast. Seeds contained in the dirt
