You will write a three-paragraph story using your unique author’s style by using concrete language in your descriptions, deliberately using words for their positive or negative connotations, and varying your syntax to create a specific feeling or tone.
You have three options to choose from:
You can create the back story for your novel. The back story gives the background information of what happened before the novel begins.
You can create the after story for your novel. The after story tells what happens in the characters’ lives after the novel ends.
You can rewrite the ending of the novel. This way, you can have it end however you wish!
As you write, keep in mind that you create the author’s style with your syntax, concrete language, and deliberate choice of words.
No matter which option you choose, it should be a minimum of three paragraphs and marked as follows:
Use a thesaurus to find specific words that reveal a negative or positive connotation. Highlight in blue. If you cannot highlight them, mark them by writing negative or positive connotations, in parentheses, next to the word.
Use at least two concrete (sensory) descriptions in your writing. Highlight in pink. If you cannot highlight, mark the descriptions by writing a concrete description, in parentheses, next to your description.
Use at least two short sentences to reflect a specific feeling or attitude. Highlight in yellow. If you cannot highlight, mark the sentences by writing short sentences, in parentheses, next to the sentences.
Use at least two long sentences to reflect a specific feeling or attitude. Highlight in green. If you cannot highlight, mark the sentences by writing long sentences, in parentheses, next to the sentences.
